About the job
Global Health Corps
Since 2009, Global Health Corps (GHC) has built a network of 1200+ next gen leaders committed to transforming health systems. Through a robust fellowship and alumni program, GHC seeds the health sector with innovative and resilient young leaders and invests in them to grow and drive systems change across their careers. GHC serves as a critical talent pipeline for its partners, an entry point to global health for non-clinical leaders who join as fellows, and a leadership accelerator for alumni and their networks. GHC leaders are concentrated in Malawi, Rwanda, Uganda, and the U.S., but the network has a truly global reach across 40+ countries and 450+ health organizations.
The Director of Africa Programs is a key member of the Global Programs team who works closely with staff across countries to develop and implement GHC’s newest fellowship, the Africa Leadership Accelerator (ALA), and to build out GHC’s customized leadership and management development programs for global health organizations.
This role oversees all aspects of the ALA, including fellow recruitment and selection, onboarding, monthly virtual learning series, and in-person retreats and events. They are ultimately responsible for ensuring that fellows have an impactful experience from the moment they are accepted as GHC fellows to the day they complete the fellowship and transition into our alumni community.
Additionally, this role will contribute to the strategic development and implementation of GHC’s customized leadership and management development programs. Initially, this includes supporting the design of the business model, including designing new program offerings. Over time, they will manage a portfolio of projects, which includes meeting with potential clients, drafting proposals, designing and facilitating new programs.
Reporting to the Chief Program Officer, the Director of Africa Programs will be directly supported by the Fellowship Program Associate. They will work closely with Africa country leadership and program team counterparts in the U.S.
The Director of Africa Programs will have significant demonstrated expertise in adult and experiential learning, program design and facilitation, and is skilled in building relationships across diverse communities. Candidates should have prior experience designing and facilitating leadership and management programs for early and mid-career leaders.
