As a Sr. Build Release Engineer (BRE) at Bitwarden, you will contribute directly to Bitwarden’s design and approach to building and distributing our products and services while championing industry standards and security practices in automation. We’re looking for someone who can take ownership of delivering valuable enhancements and new capabilities for our products through development, delivery, automation, operations, and outstanding support.
Additionally, a senior team member helps direct and support decisions for new frameworks and technical direction. This person operates at a level of accountability and responsibility where they are more independent and have shown a propensity to find and work through solutions on a regular basis and can help mentor others.
This is an all-remote team, and we are looking for someone based in the U.S. We do not offer visa sponsorship at this time.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Become an expert and authority on the entire Bitwarden delivery architecture, including build and delivery patterns for our backends, web apps, libraries, and miscellaneous clients
- Refine and enhance the Bitwarden delivery pipeline architecture, automation, SDLC and development practices
- Occasionally contribute bug fixes for issues submitted by the user community
- Provide a point of technical escalation and knowledge to help resolve issues and technical hurdles the team may encounter
- Own code reviews, learning and spreading technical knowledge
- Take on issues with unclear requirements and consistently produce thorough and well-considered solutions, escalating roadblocks when appropriate
- Own team projects, own the technical solution, and break into units of work for planning
- Mentor and coach team members
WHAT YOU BRING TO BITWARDEN
- Experience working in a cloud environment
- Experience working with Kubernetes and GitOps principles
- Extensive proficiency using source control, specifically Git
- Extensive proficiency with continuous integration and continuous delivery concepts and tools
- Solid knowledge of bash and/or PowerShell scripting
- Collaborative and adaptable mindset
- Openness and authenticity combined with excellent communication skills
- Excitement and enthusiasm for helping customers solve security and password challenges
- Excellent problem-solving skills – you might not know all the answers but you know how to find and communicate the solutions

In the United States, the starting base compensation range for this role is $140,000 - $160,000. Actual compensation may vary based on level, relevant experience, and skill set as assessed in the interview process, as well as market data by location. See our careers page for a list of benefits.
